What a day! The villa group headed out straight after breakfast for our day of surfing and turtles. We landed at Playa Grande for brunch and then headed out to hit the waves with our amazing surf instructors from Frijoles Locos. Each student gave it a try and single one of us got up on the board at least once! Many students loved the ocean time catching several waves either on a surf board or boogie board or simply just body surfing. We then headed over to Goldring-Gund Marine Research Station where we learned about the life cycle of leatherback turtles, their role in the ocean’s ecosystem, and how human actions are contributing to the endangerment of leatherback turtles and what steps we can take to help preserve their habitat.
