Everyday in Silencio was amazing, even the work days. On work days we started working at 8. Our first project was finishing the paint job on the school and benches. One of our leaders, Cailey, put on Spanish music everyday so work never got boring. Honestly, it was so fun and I could even say I miss it. Even though it took being bitten by ants, or finding wasp nests, I wouldn’t trade our experience for the world. We usually took breaks after an hour of hard work to eat snacks and recharge. We would also randomly start jamming to throwback songs. Whether it was Hannah Montana or the Beatles, we all made the most of Ellie having the aux and danced while painting. The experience that stood out the most was that even though I take chinese in school, Spanish now has a huge part in my heart. Some of the locals even came on their own free will to help out the work that needed to be done. Pablo and Jose made most work feel even more enjoyable and meaningful with their jokes and kind hearts. In the moment I already knew how much I was going to miss that one hour of work with them the next day. New friends were made everyday and they all feel like family. I will never forget the people I met or the memories I made on Middle School Costa Rica 2018. Silencio has my heart.
